Itinerary Private Tour Fatima Batalha Nazare Óbidos

Tour Sintra

  • 1 Santuário de Fátima

Leaving Lisbon in the morning and upon arrival in Fátima, we begin the tour of the religious articles factory where you can purchase your rosary to be blessed in the sanctuary.
Visit to the Santuario Fatima. Place where Our Lady appeared to the little shepherds in 1917 to convey 3 messages to them: The End of the First World War, the fall of Communism and the attack against Pope John Paul II. Fátima is one of the most important Catholic Sanctuaries in the World.
Tens of thousands of people participate at night in the procession of candles, one of the most awaited moments by the faithful present at the Sanctuary of Fátima. This is the moment of the Tour to Fátima where the guide will leave you calm for moments of reflection and be able to make the best use of this visit to the Santario de Fátima giving the necessary and sufficient time to be able to attend a Mass in the Sanctuary or even in the Chapel of the Apparitions

    • Time to attend Mass at the Sanctuary: Estimated time: 11:00
  • 2 Batalha Monastery

The fatima tour then proceeds to the city of BATALHA where we will visit the BATALHA MONASTERY. One of the most fascinating places in the Iberian Peninsula.
Close to the place where the Batalha Monastery stands, on August 14, 1385, a decisive event for the consolidation of the Portuguese nation took place: D. João, Master of Avis and future king of Portugal, defeated the Castilian armies in the battle of Aljubarrota.
That victory put an end to a dynastic crisis that had dragged on since 1383, upon the death of King Fernando, whose only daughter was married to the King of Castile, claimant to the throne of Portugal. D. João dedicated the monastery to the Virgin Mary, whom he had invoked to intercede for his triumph, and donated it to the Dominican Order, to which his confessor belonged.
This was the reason for the birth of a work whose construction would last for almost two centuries and which resulted in one of the most fascinating Gothic monuments of the Iberian Peninsula.
The construction of the monastery also embodied the consecration of D. João I as king of Portugal, thus assuming itself as a symbol of the new dynasty and legitimized by divine will. Its architectural value and historical significance motivated the classification of the monument as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in 1983.

  • 3 Nazareth

Visit of NAZARÉ. A village with a spectacular beach, whitewashed fishermen's houses and huge cliffs overlooking an intense blue sea, which make this fishing village a tourist destination of choice.
A typical fishing village, with whitewashed houses scattered over steep slopes and surrounded by huge cliffs, Nazaré is one of the favorite tourist destinations in the country, which has managed to maintain many of its traditions.
Today it is still possible to walk through the streets of Nazaré, and in particular on its pleasant wall next to the beach, and find places housing the typical costumes of this village, fishermen dressed in checkered shirts and black trousers, and their wives in seven petticoats, often performing typical fishing tasks in the region: mending fishing nets or drying fish on the sand.
Nazaré despite being a small and picturesque village has become a world surfing destination and attracts more and more tourists.
We would have to include Nazaré in this 1-day itinerary to Fátima Batalha Nazaré and Óbidos with departure from Lisbon

  • 4 Praia do Norte Nazaré

Praia do Norte, located in the village of Nazaré, is the scene of the biggest wave surfed in the world. For those who want to see the giant waves that put the country on the route of the most courageous surfers in the world. Remember that this is a phenomenon of nature – and that it can change at any time.
There are days when there are giant waves, and on other days a much calmer sea. This experience of watching giant waves in Nazaré would have to be included in this tour to give you the opportunity to watch this phenomenon

  • 5 Vila de Óbidos

The Fátima Tour then proceeds to ÓBIDOS, the last stage of the Tour. The medieval village of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and best preserved in Portugal.
Another moment in the History of Portugal and the opportunity on this tour to Fátima to be able to visit this beautiful medieval village with its majestic castle. Sufficiently close to Lisbon and located at a high point, close to the Atlantic coast, Óbidos was of strategic importance in the territory.
Already occupied before the Romans arrived in the Iberian Peninsula, the village of Óbdios became more prosperous from the moment it was chosen by the royal family.
Since King D. Dinis offered it to his wife D. Isabel, in the century. XIII, it belonged to the House of Queens who, throughout the various dynasties, benefited and enriched it. It is one of the main reasons for finding so many churches in this small town.
Within the walls, we find a well-preserved castle and a labyrinth of streets and white houses that enchant those who walk there. Between Manueline porticoes, flowered windows and small squares, there are several reasons to visit, good examples of religious and civil architecture from the heyday of the village. Nothing like a 1-day Fátima Btalha, Nazaré and Óbidos tour from Lisbon
