Nordeste São Miguel Tour: An Epic Full-Day Adventure

If you are looking for the pure essence of the Azores, our Nordeste Full-Day Tour in São Miguel is the perfect choice. Known for its lush vegetation, meticulous gardens, and dramatic cliffs, Nordeste offers an experience that many describe as visiting a separate island. Get ready for an unforgettable itinerary.

The Start of a Memorable Journey

Your journey begins with maximum convenience. After check-in at our shop or a pick-up in Ponta Delgada, our team of expert guides will welcome you. You will travel in one of our modern and comfortable tour vehicles, ensuring your only concern is absorbing the landscape as we drive up the island's north coast.

Santa Iria Viewpoint: The Gateway to the North

The first mandatory stop is the Santa Iria Viewpoint. located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, this spot offers one of the most unobstructed and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the ideal place to grasp the magnitude of São Miguel’s coast, where the deep blue sea contrasts with the vibrant green pastures.

Exploring Nordeste Village

We head toward the picturesque Nordeste Village. Here, time seems to slow down. We will visit historical and architectural points of interest, such as its classic bridge and the main church—perfect examples of Azorean hospitality and charm.

Pico do Bartolomeu: High Above the Azores

The adventure climbs in altitude toward Pico do Bartolomeu. Situated about 900 meters above sea level, this viewpoint (visited weather permitting) offers a 360-degree panorama of the east coast. This area is of extreme ecological importance: it is the habitat of the Priolo (Azores Bullfinch), one of Europe's rarest birds, endemic to this region.

Ponta do Sossego: An Instagrammable Paradise

The road winds its way to the Ponta do Sossego and Vista dos Barcos viewpoints. Considered by many to be the most flower-rich region in all of Europe, these stops are world-famous. The high green cliffs, adorned with hydrangeas and colorful blooms, create the perfect setting for unforgettable Azores photography.

Regional Gastronomy: Traditional Lunch

No tour in São Miguel is complete without flavor. We stop at a local restaurant for a traditional Azorean lunch. You will have the opportunity to taste typical dishes made with fresh products from the land and sea, recharging your energy for the afternoon ahead.

Vigia da Baleia and Maritime Tradition

After lunch, we visit the Vigia da Baleia viewpoint. This site recalls the time when whale lookouts were fundamental to the island's economy, today offering a privileged perspective over the vast ocean where, with luck, cetaceans can be spotted in the distance.

Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park

The afternoon highlight is Ribeira dos Caldeirões. This natural park is a true Eden filled with waterfalls. The main waterfall, over 40 meters high, is a spectacle of nature. Between ancient watermills and tree ferns, this is the moment to absorb the pure vibrations of Azorean nature.

The Return: Coroa da Mata

Before concluding, we make a final stop at the Coroa da Mata Viewpoint. It is the moment to bid farewell to the Nordeste coastal landscape before returning to Ponta Delgada with a soul full of memories.
